This is effectively an old boy electronic network. You can upload a profile with information about previous employment , current employment, a photo, information about your business. More importantly, you can display testimonials and this is great way to build trust and increase your profile percentage. Click here to see my LinkedIn profile
What does LinkedIn allow you to do?
- Show off your online CV
- Establish your credibility by showing to whom you are connected
- Display testimonials which are given as recommendations
- Recommend other individuals
- Search for useful contacts and ask for an introduction
- Connect to “power networkers” people with A LOT of useful contacts
- Join a group
- Ask or reply to a question
- Research potential clients, competitors or affiliates
- Keep in contact with your most important individual clients – even when they move to another company
- Allows you to update your status so you can let your connections know what you are up to

Is success currently measured by the number of networking events you go to? Probably not, so the same common sense approach applies here – find the few social networks that best fit your needs and start to engage with those communities on a regular basis, we doubt if you will be able to manage more than 3 or 4 if you want to do it properly. But start with one if you only have time for one. Better to do one well than 2 or 3 badly.
